Top Ten & Teaser Tuesday 9/25/12

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke & The Bookish
Top Ten Unfinished Series:

 1) The Maze Runner Trilogy by James Dashner
I read the first book, I don't know when I'll get around to reading the rest of the books in that series, I liked the book, but wasn't crazy about it.
2)  The Matched Trilogy by Ally Condie
I don't know, maybe it was the slow beginning, but I did not like that book. I have the second book on my computer, I don't know if I will ever get around to it.
3) Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling
I read all but the last one. I know what happens in the last book, I started it back in high school and someone told me about the end, and I just put it on my shelf and haven't picked it up again.
4) The Mortal Instruments/ The  Infernal Devices by Cassandra Clare
I just read Clockwork Angel and can't wait to start Clockwork Prince! And I have City of Fallen Angels and City of Lost Souls to read yet.
5) Morganville Vampire Series by Rachel
Only the last two, until they make another one for the series!
6) The Soul Screamers Series by Rachel Vincent
I liked the first three books, I will read the rest someday.
7) Caine Inheritance Series by Christopher Paolini
All but the last two.
8) Gemma Doyle Series by Libba Bray
I listened to the first two on audio book, I don't know what's wrong with me, I normally love books like that, set in that time zone/era, but they just wasn't all that great.
9) The Wolves of Mercy Falls Series by Maggie Stiefvater
One book left to read.
10) The Iron Fey Series by Julie Kagawa
I liked the first book, but haven't read the rest.

Gravity (The Taking, #1)

Title: Gravity
The Taking #1
Author: Melissa West
PublisherEntangled Publishing, LLC
Release Date: 10/30/12

In the future, only one rule will matter:

Don’t. Ever. Peek.

Seventeen-year-old Ari Alexander just broke that rule and saw the last person she expected hovering above her bed — arrogant Jackson Locke, the most popular boy in her school. She expects instant execution or some kind of freak alien punishment, but instead, Jackson issues a challenge: help him, or everyone on Earth will die.

Ari knows she should report him, but everything about Jackson makes her question what she’s been taught about his kind. And against her instincts, she’s falling for him. But Ari isn’t just any girl, and Jackson wants more than her attention. She’s a military legacy who’s been trained by her father and exposed to war strategies and societal information no one can know — especially an alien spy, like Jackson. Giving Jackson the information he needs will betray her father and her country, but keeping silent will start a war.

Why I need it:
It sounds great and it looks like an amazing out of this world read!

Ironskin (Ironskin, #1)

Jane tugged at the corner of the veil. She knew how much the gauze did and didn't cover. The folds of the white veil obscured the details of her iron half-mask, but they didn't hide that it existed. She caught them all looking, men, women, children. They stared into her veil, fascinated, appalled, trying not to get caught.

Review: The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater

The Raven Boys (Raven Cycle, #1)

Title: The Raven Boys
Series: Raven Cycle #1
Author: Maggie Stiefvater
Publisher: Scholastic Press
Publication Date: September 18, 2012
Genre:  Young Adult, Fantasy/Paranormal
Reading Source: Netgalley
Reading Level: 12+
Format: ebook
Cover Art: 5/5

Gooreads:

“There are only two reasons a non-seer would see a spirit on St. Mark’s Eve,” Neeve said. “Either you’re his true love . . . or you killed him.”

It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive.

Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her.

His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.

But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little.

For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.

From Maggie Stiefvater, the bestselling and acclaimed author of the Shiver trilogy and The Scorpio Races, comes a spellbinding new series where the inevitability of death and the nature of love lead us to a place we’ve never been before.

 Review:
Blue has always know she would kill her true love.

Blue's family is full of psychics, her mother, aunt. Expect for her, she is a non-seer, Blue's power is to amplify energy. But when they visit the church graveyard, they have been doing this every year on St. Mark's Eve. The only thing different about this year is Blue sees someone. A boy from the local private school. All they get from him is his name, Gansey.

It took me a long time to get into the book, the beginning of the book was confusing and I kept getting distracted. But after I got into the book it was incredible!

The characters, all of them, were great, I loved Gansey, and his friends.

I'm ready for book number two!

Thank you Scholastics and NetGally for this ARC.
