Review- The Lady's Slipper

Title: The Lady's Slipper

Author:Deborah Swift

Publisher: St. Martin's Press

 Release Date: November 23, 2010

Summary (Goodreads):
1660. King Charles II has returned from exile, but memories of the English Civil War still rankle. There are old scores to settle, and religious differences threaten to overturn a fragile peace. When Alice Ibbetson discovers a rare orchid, the Lady’s Slipper, growing in a wood belonging to Richard Wheeler, she is captivated by its beauty— though Wheeler, a Quaker, is determined to keep the flower where God intended it to grow. Knowing that the orchid is the last of its kind, she steals the flower, little dreaming that her seemingly simple act will set off a chain of events that will lead to murder and exile, and change her life forever…

Review:
This was my first first-reads book, thank you Goodreads, and/or whoever else that had a hand in the giveaway. I liked this book, I liked the time zone the book was in, 1660, the beginning was a little slow, but it picked up and it held my attention well until the last bit of the book, about the third of the way through. I don't know why it just kind of felt like it rushed the ending. Other than that I enjoyed this book.

My computer has not been working for some time now, but I finally got it working, and the next books that I'm going to review are Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones and The Lady's Slipper by Deborah Swift. I'll get them up as soon as possible. I don't get a lot of time to read so I'm not sure when that will be.
